Homemade is always best! When I was a kid, we always used to have the same Easter baskets year after year, and that's what I had inteded to do for my son, except that they keep disappearing...
For the basket itself, a lot of times I end up just going to the dollar store and buying some candy there as well. Is it the basket that you make? If so, that might be a fun craft to share with the kids. I want to let my son help make candy and then put that in his Easter basket because a) it's fun and b) he'll know that the Easter Bunny didn't actually bring it. He's still a little resistant to the idea. This year I want to do a special little religious item for my ten year old. I'm thinking of making him a nice "boy" rosary in his favorite colors and maybe giving him a medal or crucifix to wear.
